Could not agree more. My five-year-old Asus UX410UA had screen brightness approaching 400 nits. I find most new equivalent laptops have displays of around 300 nits, with some manufacturers happily settling for 250 nits. Why? I just don't get it.

The LG Gram 16 has 78% more pixels for only 31% increase in laptop area and 50% increase in weight. However, 3 pounds versus 2.5 pounds is not much of an additional burden to carry in exchange for the equivalent of a 17" desktop monitor display, bigger battery, a keypad. The carrying dimensions only increase by some 15% (14" vs 12.35" width; 9.8 vs 8.5" depth). The only quibble I have, in general of manufacturers: 1. Why even offer anything less than 16GB of RAM today? 2. The base SSD should be at least 512GB in size; programs are growing iin size and in number. 3. Brightness is inadequate for laptops used in ambient light. A more reasonable minimum could be 600 nits. When will e-ink become available?
