It's crazy how Cortex A55 is still being used. Let me just remind you Snapdragon 845 (2017) was the 1st processor to launch with it. Isn't it enough?

The successor of it is Cortex-A510 which is part of ARMv9-A instruction set so yes, Smartphone Chip manufacturers will continue to use Cortex-A55 as long as they want to manufacture smartphone SoCs with cores part of ARMv8.2-A instruction set.
