The only thing that's improving is nothing—what a disgraceful company, Snapdragon

https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/18452124 This is the Geekbench score of the Honor X80 PM that he mentioned. Check it out: ARM implementer 65 architecture 8 variant 1 part 3393 revision 2 "3393" = Cortex-A78 "3457" = Cortex-A720

Kirisame, Using old cortex cores to lower costs makes this soc worse than snapdragon 6 gen 4. Higher clock speeds can't compensate for the higher ipc and more efficiency of Cortex A720 + Cortex A520, not to mention newer cores offers better performance with the AI integrated in modern software and android systems.

Unknown1, What's wrong? Honor has already released the Honor X80 Pro Max, and the specifications of the 6g5 are clearly stated on their homepage

I think not, cosidering the 7s Gen 4 has a 1+3+4 CPU cluster (and speeds ranging from 1.8 Ghz to 2.7 Ghz), while this one had a 4+4 CPU cluster (and speeds ranging from 2.0 Ghz to 2.6 Ghz).

This is same upgarde in terms of pattern like exynos 1280 ugraded in exynos 1380 by adding just extera prime core except extra cpu frequency.

The CPU frequencies is also similar to that of the Dimensity 7400, with the core architecture being the only difference.

Unknown1, Exactly. That is the same point I was making. Just like the Dimensity 7300 and 7400 have nearly identical CPU frequencies and differ mainly in core architecture, Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and 6 Gen 5 follow a very similar upgrade pattern. Most of the changes are minor refinements in core configuration, optimizations, and newer features rather than a completely new design. In many cases, companies like Samsung, MediaTek, and Qualcomm release these incremental upgrades to refresh their product lineup and marketing, while the real-world performance difference is often modest. Buyers should focus on actual performance and efficiency instead of relying only on the new model name.
