Dimensity 7400 is typically 7300 but with a little tweaking like The clock speeds are little higher and Gpu is also tweeked i would recommend 6 Gen 4 because it has newer generation cores which shows better scores on paper and in real life too

D7400 for non gaming any editing (requires memory dim has higher memory ux score SD 6 gen 4 for gaming (higher cpu and gpu score with higher benchmark of both cpu gpu)

Honestly speaking, I wouldn't buy a phone based on which phone has 7400 and which one has 6 Gen 4. Rather, I would use other parameters like display, camera, software, etc., because in real life both would perform the same. And if they don't, it would be a tuning problem from the brand's (using the chip) side.

Contrary to what scores are saying here, gaming is actually better on dim 7400, dim can easily go for 80+ fps while sd struggles with 60fps with bgmi.

The D7400's mem score can be higher because it uses UFS 3.1, while the 6-gen 4 mostly uses UFS 2.2. Take a look at the mem score of the 6-gen 4 using UFS 3.1 (224,026) and the D7400 using UFS 3.1 (221,582). Yes, they are both the same (although the 6g4 is slightly superior). Alo UX is superior to MediaTek. I can't deny this.

Mediatek is losing the mid range battle with their dumb move of recycle the 7300.

To me mediatek is better than snapdragon / exynos in gaming faster FPS plus no lag or heat issues with a good battery saving however snapdragon and exynos are better for video editing and Ai photography

7400 is a disappointment compared to 7300 all they did was increasing the clockspeed . 6 gen 4 on the other hand has newer cores and much powerful and futureproof

SD 6 gen 4 don't have the newer A720/A520 cores , they're the same old A78/A55 , information listed on this site are misleading

According to me i thing 6 Gen 4 is much better that 7400 bcs it uses latest Cores like 720s,520s where 7400 uses A55,A78 old cores, I don't know why vote 7400 is higher
