The 8840U is simply a rebranded 7840U. The hardware is the SAME for both models. There is no difference in hardware or frequencies. The values between the two should be identical.

However, the 8840U has a higher performance-per-watt ratio than the 7840U.

It is said that 8840U is not even able to achieve its base frequency 3.3ghz. max out with performance mode on is 3.1ghz in quick load(2-10 secs) tests.
