I used both. I have the 13420H and my friend has 12450H. Performance difference is not noticeable even a bit. Both are actually new and has good battery life. The difference is in price, I'd call the 12450H winner because of the price to Performance comparisons. Though both laptop gets really got. Both were in Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, different variant.

The 13420h is indeed more efficient and better performing, but not by much than about 10%. Besides, it being an intel 13th generation processor makes me concerned about its life span, considering all the problems with 13th and 14th gen processors.

Intel Core i5 13420H is far more superior to i5 12450H in terms of performance and battery efficiency ratio.
