In a video I watched, the AI Max 395 in a mini PC outperformed the M4 Max by up to 20 percent.

memory bandwith is crazy in m4 max. unless you hit something very big problem to get maximum capability of cpu where ryzen higher, it will lean to memory bandwith , where mac wins.

AMD could surpass M4, but without risc V its going to be difficult, per watt performance and single core still behind, but significantly cheaper.

Wow the amount of Apple hate here is crazy. The M4 Max obviously FAR SUPERIOR..the numbers don't lie regardless of how much you vote for the inferior one!!

Have you ever thought because they don't want to use Apple products and apple costs aren't used for windows? So they didn't vote for it.

The thing is that the numbers for the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395 platform were achieved using the ROG Flow Z13, which is a tablet form with a maximum TDP of 90W. The platform itself is capable of going up to 120W with bursts up to 140W, so it is not so obvious that the M4 is far superior. I'd love to see those numbers in the upcoming mini-pcs I suspect that the whole picture will be different. It can't be argued that Apple's single core is untouchable and for laptops is a far better option if you don't care about GPU power, but given the fact that the Pro 395 competes in price with the M4 Pro, the GPU capabilities are far superior and I think that in a mini-pc form it will be better in multi-core it makes it a better option for mini-pcs.

John, I also agree with you that the iGPU capabilities of the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395 aren't fully showed off here due to the lack of maximum TDP. However, even though it may have a more powerful iGPU, the M4 Max is far superior in power efficiency. Even if the Pro 395 can compete in CPU capabilities and beat the M4 Max's GPU capabilities, the M4 Max was designed to go into laptops with high power efficiency and consist performance whereas the Pro 395 would be eating up significant amounts of power. Both CPUs are great but they both shine in different purposes and all comes down to usage type, price and preferred OS.
