The i7 has raw horsepower while the 7800x3d has substantially better gaming performance, and they are priced similarly too. In conclusion, if you need for workloads (editing, blender or code compile) and gaming on the side, get the i7. If you are considering gaming as the main activity and you like content creation on the side, get the 7800x3d.
