The performance numbers for an ARM-based CPU are quite outstanding. Soon, there may come a day when ARM-based CPUs overtake x86-based CPUs in terms of raw power. It's noteworthy that they are also over 40% more power efficient.

Also, what's the point of getting power efficiency for a chip meant for a PC?

Geekbench is a terrible benchmark that makes any Apple processor look good. Take a 10-year-old mobile processor from Apple and check the results - it can beat a desktop Intel i9 13900K, that's how lousy it is. It's completely biased towards Apple.

It all comes down to what you are doing. The massive L2 and L3 cache of the M2 will make it run circles around anything else out there. It does appear to be a weaker chip, but that chip has a massively bigger virtual desk to accomplish its work. It doesn't have to, metaphorically speaking, constantly put files back in the file cabinet because the desk is too small.

Gee, that's quite a feat, considering you can't get an M2 Ultra in a laptop. It's only available in the Mac Studio or the Mac Pro.

Neither could you get a i9 13900K in a laptop. What's your point?

Jay Jo, You may get a powerful 13980hx which would easily beat the sh!t out of m2 max.

Jay Jo, Yes, you can in some select laptops. It's not the most common chip to find in a laptop

Bot (idk), The M1 Max still provides a buttery smooth experience for productivity tasks, not just for gaming.

Bot (idk), The laptop's performance is reduced to a quarter when compared to when it is plugged into a battery. The whole point of a laptop is to maintain consistent performance under any condition.

rahul, You don't need an M1 Max that costs around $400 for a smooth experience. You could also just purchase an Intel Core i5 from 2018.

Jay Jo, Sure you can! In the "H" series, to be precise. However, you can't get the more powerful M2 in a laptop. For instance, I have an Asus Vivobook that contains one.
