I think the performance uplift will be 10%, but I want everyone to remember that when you compare laptops, you compare a whole different system. The best 4090 laptops are the 14900KS laptops, and they have the possibility to just die because of a mistake in creating the CPU, so that is not good. Then, the 4090 and AMD laptops are so little and weak, to be honest, and the new Intel generation is worse in performance than the last generation, which just dies. So a 5090 laptop with a new Intel Core 9 or Core 7 is not really a good idea either. Now listen to this: MSI has a new laptop that has a 5090 and an AMD 9955HX3D, which is the laptop version of the desktop 9950X3D AMD CPU flagship. Now, if we compare a 14900KS 4090 laptop vs. a 9955HX3D 5090 laptop, the latter will win because it does not kill itself, has extra V-cache, so it is better at gaming and more power efficient. That is the CPU difference alone. Now, the GPU difference is 50% more VRAM and 7% to 8% more CUDA cores, DLSS4, and MFG (Multi-Frame Generation). So I think that laptop or any laptop with those specs will win against last-gen. You just need to find the manufacturer that makes the best cooling solution, and that is all. So, 10% in GPU performance and maybe another 10% in CPU performance. So I think max, we will see a 20% uplift in performance from last year's flagship laptop specs.

There is no 14900KS Laptop , only a 14900HX. And with the 50 series Intel is pairing with 275HX and 285HX no 14900HX but atleast the Ultra 200 won't die. 9955HX3D is the best Laptop Gaming CPU currently. 7945HX is actually better than a 14900HX. 4090 and 5090 Laptop GPUs both have Potential and if you shunt mod (R005-> R003) then you can get around a 250W 4090 + OC which should be around 4070Ti Avg Performance. A Shunt modded Overclocked 5090 + 9955HX3D 6000MHz CL32 can get you the best Gaming Laptop. XMG , MSI are the few with this combo.

Me&me, Cooling wise XMG or any Tongfang chasis with Water cooling is the best or Laptops with a big Vapor Chamber like Strix (18")/ Legion(16") , put it on a Llano V12 + Max Fans. Use TIMs like LM, PTM7950/58 and Upsiren UX Pro for the best Heat Transfer.

I'm investing in a Razer Blade 18 5090. Need to upgrade this 2080 Mobile. Hopefully, MFG will keep it strong for years to come.

Really the only reason to get the 5090 is for the VRAM because the actual raster performance is not much better. 4090 laptops will be much cheaper so that's the better choice in most cases unless you want the absolute best performance down to the last percent.
