Qualcomm's mid-range stuff is absolutely abysmal. SD 7SG4 are in phones that costs the same (or more) than the 8400/8500, with not even half the power. The 7 series has been behind for 2 years now. And if 7+G4 did come out, it would be weaker than the SD 8SG4, which is equal to the D8500. 7+G4 would already be very inferior on arrival in other words. If you want something from Qualcomm that's matching in power to MTK, it's 100€ extra - which is a lot if you're looking in the 300-400$ segment (25-33.3% more). Sad to see the 7 series fading out in such a state and be budget-class chips, such a shame really. Hopefully Qualcomm takes some notes from MediaTek and releases something better and cheaper.

Think that MediaTek realised first that people now expect at east 5 years of updates on a midrange android phone.

Mef, It's becoming a legal requirement in Europe that's phone must offer so many years of updates, so even budget new devices get at least 5 years of updates.
