I own both and id much rather suggest getting the 3700x. The specs are pretty much equal but the 3700 is about $200 cheaper and comes with a cooler, which the other one doesn't.

Given that I own both chips the 3700x is in my estimation the better preposition buy, but if power consumption be damned and you want all the framez and a slightly faster rendering time 5800x is the way to go when every second counts,

Well, there mistake in Power Efficiency The efficiency score of electricity consumption - cause lower 7 3700x is less power consuming than newer one. Also there's mistake in PCIe characteristics - both have 24 lanes, which is 20% difference

The ryzen 5800x doesn't do as good i you would think for the price so i would still go with 3700x

Anon, When generation change is 20-30% boost a 6% gain is pretty nice from just letting amd communicate with amd. Not seeing that from nvidia and any chip being able to communicate.
