Notes on Helio G99:
    - The MediaTek G99 Ultimate is essentially the same chip as the G99, with a slightly higher clock speed and no noticeable performance difference. "Ultimate" naming was added for marketing purposes and could confuse the average consumer.

Best 4g soc of mediatek, sd/kirin/exynos have more powerfull 4g soc

Xdd, Not quite. The G99/100/200 are actually weaker. The stronger 4G MediaTek chips (for graphics and fps) are Helio G90/90T/95/96. They have Mali-G76 MC4 GPU. Which can record/playback at 4k 60. G99/100/200 might be better for score but the G90/90T/95/96 are actually the stronger ones. If we're talking about scores, SD/Kirin/Exynos are even weaker lol.

v1sper, I remember the G90/95 family had thermal throttling issues. For sustained performance it's down to how well the specific phone can dissipate heat. Without adequate cooling they're no better than G99 family.

Kim, That's why if they instead refresh G95 to w/e & shrink it to 6nm, it'll be the best 4G soc mediatek gonna make, G96/99/100/... Won't even come close.

v1sper, G99, G100, G200 are same chipset. But they are better than G91, G95, and G96 because the previous group of chipsets are based on 6nm while the latter group based 12 nm.

v1sper, G99/90T/95 had heating issues. They throttled too much and then, why is there G96? That's basically G99 but with 2.05GHz. G96 uses the ARM Mali-G57 MC2 not the ARM Mali-G76 MC4 like on the G90/90T/95. Now, those chips are no longer available in the market. You have to go for second hand phones with like 70-80% battery health (mostly) and again, a super strong GPU like the ARM Mali-G76 MC4 on a 12nm fabrication turns them into literal frying pan if you don't buy a Cooling Fan. It's going to heat up even in regular usecase.

MediaTek: the master of rebranding πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

Editaddicts September 21, 2026 at 05:15 AM
Better than Qualcomm. I'm now using Snapdragon 685 which is a rebranded 680 and now it's rebranded again as Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 with 2.9GHz. Worst part? What MediaTek is rebranding has good drivers so even though the G99 is being rebranded multiple times, the chips can hold up. While what Qualcomm is rebranding is using the base architecture of Snapdragon 660 from 2019 and uses Extremely old architecture (has just shrunken the 660 to 6nm to make 680 and then continues) which doesn't hold up no matter how much they overclock.

Wow MediaTek just wow. If they keep doing this I think I'll just have to stick with my Kirin cpus even though they lack google they are still better than this.

This shows that no one is interested in mediatek chips thats why they have much stock left and they rebrand it every year with new fancy name.

Not just rebranding is upgraded but not significant just 5-10% up faster then before
