Apple A20 Pro chip is smoother than Snapdragon Chip because gaming test fps, when heat up, a little fps down, A20 Pro chip not like that, that my view.

Benchmark doesn't mean anything. By watching geekerwan video a20 pro at least 1 generation is ahead in CPU efficiency. Qualcomm used to have huge gpu advantage over apples metal gpu, but I would say gap is dangerously close . If you are curious about actual performance. Qualcomm totally letting us down this year. Usually the snapdragon has better multi core performance by a margin and worse single core... But now the apple has just got better single core and 1% better multi core. The GPU should still be better than the iPhone but c'mon Qualcomm, do better.

OP_SHADOW, What baffles me is, these GPUs still aren’t “fast enough” so to speak. On paper they are powerful but still struggle in the likes of AAA games. Was playing Control the other day and you still need frame gen to get good fps.

Apple always lose very hard on GPU side and was also a bit slower in CPU in MT while winning only in ST. But now Apple catch in GPU side, MT and still have best ST. Apple do great job on new 2nm process while snapdragon looks like it will be from upgraded 3nm+ node instead new gen 2nm node.

Geekerwan’s video is out. The Snapdragon needs over 20W to match Apple’s CPU, which is close to 14W. This would be at its peak 5GHz, which it certainly can’t sustain. The A20 also appears to have the faster GPU, as seen by the 3D Mark test graph. The difference is slight, but it’s faster. Of course the Snapdragon can use ai for frame gen, but that’s not better performance.

Ngeek, Well you know Apple haters won’t do that. The Snapdragon does get higher fps in eg Wuthering Waves, but that’s more of an optimization difference than the GPU being faster. Since Wuthering Waves, and many other mobile games, were designed for Android first.

I’m seeing more leaks for the Snapdragon chip. It’s not looking particularly good lol. A20 pro 4725 SC, 12575 MC. Prototype phone 4327 SC, 12873 MC A difference in MC by about 2.4%. And this is achieved in an unrealistic setting. Extra power and a heat pass block. Which commercial smartphones do not use. It’ll score lower in the likes of eg the S27 Ultra, because it does not have the extra power or the same aggressive cooling. I do still expect the GPU to be faster. However, it heavily depends on how Qualcomm achieves this new level of performance. Apple’s 40% uplift is not only correct as they claimed, but peak power consumption is practically identical. This was shown in Geekerwan’s tests.

clocks speeds literally mean nothing, MTK and Apple are very close in GB with way less clock speed, and neither does tflops, even you can see it in desktop GPUs, AMDs gpu have less tflops than Nvidia but they get the same raster performance

Apple did such a great work in their GPU section which was the only part stuck behind the competition. I'm mainly android user, though for the first time I admire apple's move towards the best this year...prices went off as a drawback. We need this competition between manufacturers so we customers can get the best bundle, both for Android and iOS users!

Apple has really nailed the gpu this year which was their only weak part in the chip I just compared the m4 and a20 pro and the a20 pro surpasses the m4's the gpu what the heck has apple done this year (ipad m4) but still that's an insane feat to surpass the gpu power of m4 🤯

Abionic is lapping still with the 6 cores. Super powerful single/multicore performance right there. As for the antutu scores we all know it's number inflation. SOC is measured in single/multicore performance. I can't even explain what those antutu numbers really are to any beginner because it's just number inflation, yet it has a lot of influence on most users. Apple doesn't joke with their SOC at all. Can't wait for real world performance and the monster M6 series.

Patiently waiting for real world performance test in games, since everything else is also affected by the cooling system of the device being shipped with what SOC. For now let's say it is what it is. Real world performance is the last results for consumers. Phones aren't out yet so no need to rant on which one is better. The cooling system decides

The CPU metric looks incorrect to me. The Snapdragon scores better by a single point. Why? Of course both chips aren’t fully released yet, and I expect the Snapdragon to have a better MC score like before, but that doesn’t overcome the huge gap in SC.

More cores doesn’t automatically make a chip better. It’s been neck and neck with each generation and Apple is comparable to competitors whilst using less cores overall. Only a matter of time before they break from the 6 core setup.

Dumb ass the total number lf transistors decides the overall performance. Just cluster some more transistors in a single core to make a less core chip with same no of transistors and that's what Apple has been doing.

Well they can’t overcome such a gap in a single generation. To make up for the weaker individual cores, they just cram more into the chip to have a greater MC performance. But that only consumes more power at peak speeds. Not to mention to extra heat.

What a test? This doesn't make sense the AnTuTu score can't be used as a benchmark compared to Geekbench, where's the A20 Pro's GPU score is more OP, but why the compute test results show the same score? If there are differences in their LDDRx memory, the recent update should be superior

To be correct the Geekbench GPU benchmark in iphone is using metal APi so its not directly comparable qith android devices wich using open cl or vulkan ! MediaTek or Snapdragon gpu are better than apple in raw performance. 3d mark benchmark is the closest to reality.

The Snapdragon may have stronger peaks in some criteria, but that doesn’t mean it’s automatically better. Sustaining that performance is what matters. You aren’t playing a game for 30 seconds.

Gen 6 pro king, Buddy, the Snapdragon chips throttle far sooner than the bionic chips. They have greater peaks, but that only consumes more energy and generates more heat. It’ll be very different this gen because Apple has made significant changes to heat management. The iPhone will probably feel warmer, but that’s the cooling doing its job.

Lando, If the coolant was doing it's job why did Apple switch to aluminum instead of keeping premium materials like titanium? So now you need to put a thick rubber case to protect your cheap phone, which will insulate the heat and cancel out the cooling benefits

I think in terms of cpu power we are in good place for the last 3 generations. we need to get better gpu performance for pc gaming emulation on android. right now 8 gen 5 with a cooler has similar performance to steam deck. android emulation scene is having a generational run for the last 3 years. I assume with 8 gen 6 we will start to see stable 30 fps on almost all AAA pc games.

On almost all AAA pc games? Which resolution are you running on? 1080p? I don’t think mobile chip today like 8 gen 6 can run 4K cyberpunk on a stable 30fps with a high settings. The word ‘almost’ is pretty vague here.

huh, Neither is geekbench compute test for GPU, apple uses different API as compared other SoC designers
