It's basically just 0.3 Teraflops lower than Xbox Series S GPU
With this rate, not only emulating PS3 will be possible, PS4 is also possible on it
TFLOPs are a theoretical value for floating performance and are not really comparable across different architecture.
There are many other parts of the GPU that contributes to overall performance.
BTW the GPU in the Xbox Series S can sustain full performance at all times whereas the Adreno 830 will throttle like crazy due to temperature and power consumption.
Emulation also requires a lot more power than the original console since it tries to emulates the missing hardware.

Joe, That's definitely not true across different architecture is really comparable I tried emulating a jump force game at 1440p 30 frame and compared with a native ps4 one the ps4 one couldn't even handle the Special attacks at 30 fps and dropped to 18 fps at much lower resolution while the emulated one which is way demanding maintained a 30 fps without drops! imagine what a native one can do also the Cpu on the 8 elite is significantly faster than the Xbox series s + you're saying the throttling is crazy have you ever watched a 3 hours gameplay emulation on the elite?
there are phones which has active cooling or just use an external cooling don't hide behind Those excuses and lies to save yourself+ you're just mad cause somebody here triggered you you just copy pasted :"phones throttles " and said let's say this so we defend our outdated Console

Joe, You're talking about power consumption which one consumes a lot? + did you even see switch2 Performance and graphics compared to the Xbox series s? The switch2 in most tests Outperformed the switch2 and even looked better meanwhile it's just a tablet with a normal cooling and way less Power consumption I did 4 hours of gameplay Emulating at 4k 30 fps on an 8 elite which it's way better than what an Xbox can do so saying they are. not comparable so right the 8 elite. might be way stronger due to Cpu performance and the 4, 47 ghz let alone the 8 elite 2 which it's a significant jump from 8 elite I advice you learn cause you have lot of search to do Go see gameplays holding performance up to 4 hours with sipping battery like a hot tea you guys whenever hear something feel triggered

Note: Qualcomm already provided the L1 instruction cache size in their documents. The L1 data cache size bit is extrapolated by comparing to Apple's since its ex-Apple engineers that designed the microarchitecture of the core designs in the Snapdragon 8 Elite. So although the L1 data cache size part can't be confirmed for now, it's highly likely that the values provided are correct.

Snapdragon 8 Elite is really powerful mobile SoC hardware alone but if it paired with Android OS which is using JVM (Java Virtual Machine) instead of direct to the SoC, it slows the performance due to its extra level of abstraction, whereas Apple A18 Pro which not using JVM and directs to the kernel and hardware, its raw performance is excellent. Antutu Benchmarks scores doesn't matter always to be based, it is different in the actual using. (Eruma Bai)

Do you even own any of the mentioned chipsets? Better in real life testing, really? Look at the cores. Look at the graphs. The 8 Elite is a performance oriented chipset which delivers raw power but when it comes to efficiency and optimization which are in-fact very big factors, the 9400 is better. The 8 Elite is clocked too high and the new cores throttle a lot. The thermals are insane and even though you can use it to it's potential it heats up so much it seems like a waste of silicon.

Anonymous, Wrong, with many many testings, the 9400 heats up significantly more and more often than the 8 Elite. The 8 Elite has better GPU, and better performance per watt, so it delivers comparable performance at lower wattages, which means it heats up lower.
In thermal stability tests, it does drop in stability, but it's better than 9400 which drops significantly more. The 8 Elite is leagues better than the 9400 and 9400 plus.
Stop being ignorant. Also what kind of blatant use of language is this? Waste of silicon space? Bro you are a waste of valuable carbon molecules.

My next phone may have this processor. Before that, I had a phone with a snapdragon 435. That phone was a joke. It didn't even reach 100,000 in Antutu. Made worse by the fact that it had 3 GB of ram, and that phone was unresponsive. Also, The cameras were poor, it was capped at Android 9, and battery life was poor. I'm actually glad that I don't have to use that phone anymore, but that also means i'm left without a phone. Hopefully this processor won't disappoint =)

Snapdragon 8 Elite is a god of lot of gods and will emulate all modern PC games very smoothly
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is already doing the job almost perfectly
These are some of the games I've tried on 8 Gen 3. Performance were really amazing
1: Resident Evil 2 2019
2: Resident Evil 3 2020
(1 & 2 ran at 35-47 fps despite StrongMem=2 to fix freezing)
3: Shadow of the tomb Raider 2018
(3 ran at 36-50 on dx12 with normal graphics settings and 960x544 resolution)
4: God of War 2018
(at low graphics settings, 4 ran 28-46)
5: Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice
(5 ran at 35-47 at very graphics s รงsetting and 960x544 resolution

LGs, Smartphone support has nothing to do with the what the SoC supports, its up to the phone manufacturer to certify their devices on the latest v6.0 protocol.
For example the Galaxy S23 Ultra has Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 chip which supports WIFI7, but the phone itself support only WIFI6E as Samsung choose not to certify the phone for WIFI7.

Emulation is the best way to play AAA games on phones currently porting 1 game will take forever but if emulation progress more and gets support from people like valve they are currently working on proton for arm you will have the entirety of your steam library on your phone
Look at it in a Future tone imagine how far will emulation go
Like 3 years from now emulation vs ports (like apple ports)

Seeing how nothing phone chose more mid range / low level flagship chips in most of their lineup, it would definitely be conventional for them to utilize the snapdragon 8s gen 3 on their newest launch. This, it would totally be surprising if they used an extremely high end flagship chip such as the 8 gen 4 for Nothing Phone 3. They should totally take advantage of that opportunity.

What? Snapdragon 8 series is the face of Qualcomm's flagship mobile processor.There's no reason to jump to 9 series unless they want to make one for potentially stronger mobile processors intended for tablets (ehem X Plus/ X Elite). That's the reason why after 888 they didn't jump to 9 series because if they did then they have to do it also for the 7, 6 and 4 series as well but jumping from 7 to the 8 series is stupid since 7 series is for sub-flagship class while the 8 series have the most high end flagship processors. Their new naming scheme is easier to understand except the s and Plus bs.

You can't refer to it as CUDA since Nvidia owns it. It's not the same anyway since each GPU maker has unique architecture. Also, both the 8 Gen 2's and 8 Gen 3's has 6 cores (at least according to how software classifies it) and 1536 total ALUs. I think the 8 Gen 4 can boast up to 2048 total ALUs.

Though people are excited about significant improvement with this generation, I am curious to see thermal efficiency. ๐ค TSMC 3nm isn't that thermally impressive compared to TSMC 4nm (1st and 2nd gen). iPhone 15 Pro Max heats terribly with demanding games. Let's see how Qualcomm tames the beast this time.

TSMC's N3B is only used in Apple's A17 Pro Bionic at least in the mobile processors space. Knowing Apple, I'm not surprised if the main culprit is their poor heat dissipation system and the overly bumped-up clock speeds. Also, the 8 Gen 4 will use the second generation 3nm. Second generation nodes of the same size was always better refined. For example, Apple, before, used N5P which is an improved version of N5 while 8+ Gen 1 used N4 and it turned out to be better. But even if the new 3nm mode will have thermal inefficiencies, the density upgrade it provides is still an important factor considering theyre dedicating more die space for NPUs.

Ahmad faisal berry, The 8 Gen 4 has already been tested in Geekbench. Though it may not be final, the clock speed for the 2 performance cores are at 4.09 GHz and the 6 other cores are at 2.78 GHz. The desktop X Elite and X Plus can actually match up to Apple's, AMD's and Intel's offering, the only problem is that not many applications can run natively on Arm and even if they do they are barely optimized. Also, Mediatek's collaboration with Nvidia is for the AI accelerators intended for desktop and the automotive business. It isn't confirmed whether they will be using GeForce GPUs for mobile smartphones, I wouldn't be bothered if they still use ARM's Immortalis GPUs given its generational improvements. Nvidia GPUs are also not cheap.

Violet Berry, curious Exynos 2500, still mysterious what cpu and gpu are used. how efficient is their soc using GAA fabrication compared to conventional finfet. 3GAP is already used Exynos W100.if it's true Mediatek dimensty 9400, use custom gpu cooperation nvidia. amazing thing for a technology, just adopt nvidia tegra system used from soc nintendo switch.

Violet Berry, AMD GPU, sold to Qualcomm; mention Adreno GPU. Used to be AMD property. AMD now works with Samsung to make custom GPU in SOC Exynos 2200, 2400, 1480. Experience has been a long time not making ARM SOC anymore, since 2008 or 2009.

Violet Berry, If it is true that the SD 8 Gen 4 SoC uses Adreno 760, the performance is too low. There was an issue of using Adreno 830.

PeeMee, Qualcomm used cpu nuvia oryon clock 4 ghz. can maintain stable performance and not be greedy for resources. if the pc is not a problem, make it as fast as possible. but use direct electricity

Nobel, It's safe to say that after the 9300 ditched the a5xx cores entirely and put 4 a720 cores as their efficiency cores instead, it shows that an underclocked a7xx core provides greater power-performance ratio than even an a5xx core at higher / same clock speeds. This issue was all the more prevalent in the creation of both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Dimensity 9000 / 9200 series (plus variants included)

Ahmad faisal berry, AMD's division for developing mobile GPUs was sold to Qualcomm, not the GPU IP. Aside from the naming, both GPUs have different architectures. Also, Samsung is developing its own GPU IP and there are rumors that the next Xclipse 950 (2025) or Xclipse 960 (2026) will not be based on AMD's RDNA 3 architecture but instead Samsung's.

Ahmad faisal berry, Exynos 2500's CPU could have a 1+5+4 (like the 2400) or a 2+4+4 (if they are based on ARM's reference configuration) CPU configuration. The new Xclipse 950 GPU could either be based on AMD's RDNA 3 with maybe 14 to 16 Compute units or their new self-developed GPU.

Ahmad faisal berry, Arm owns and licenses the Cortex-A520 to Qualcomm, Samsung, Google, and Mediatek. They will keep the efficiency cores for 2 generations before making a new core design. So we could see the new A530 along with the X930 and 730.

ARM's next-gen CPU core design is X925 and A725 not X5 and A730. But even then, Qualcomm will use their custom Phoenix core design.

Well, the price increase would be more unbearable unless Qualcomm decided not to be like Intel and makes it cheap, or at least slightly more expensive, while using X3 or X4 + X5 cores against Dimensity 9400.
