Echoing others I bought a ryzen cpu laptop because I run software that only works with windows/x86 Laptop also comes with a dedicated gpu which is nice to have

...not to mention for music production, only performance cores count. Most DAWs don't use efficiency cores (or don't use them equally), so here the AMD has a full 8 P cores while M4 only 4 P cores.

People needing 32GB or more and not having a fortune for a decent M4/M4 Pro machine, can still have an awesome mobile AMD system. 32/64GB of DDR5 RAM with 2-4TB of fast replacable SSD is something I would not trade for slightly better single core performance. Music production on 16GB is walking on thin ice!

People voting 8845HS here are out of their minds. The M4 runs way cooler with basically no fans while running most tasks under 15w. Buy the 8845HS only in a PC if you need to add a lot of SSD or RAM because then it gets stupid expensive with Apple.

Well, people want it for Linux. AMD CPU, iGPU, and dedicated GPU works well with Linux distros. Add on more RAM and better performance SSD read/write speeds when compared to the M4 Air or regular M4 Mac Mini.

M4 chip all the way. The data shown is from iPad Pro. The same chip will at least perform 10-15 percent better in MBA because of better heat management, larger chassis, and more optimizations. However, AMD is still good considering it is an x86 based processor (which is actually better than all ARM chips currently in Windows, even x Elite 84 chips).

Single core functions, simple CPU tasks, M4 wins easily. Even the M2 chip is still competitive. The M2 to M4 chip are still the best in the industry for battery life and video editing. This includes their iGPUs for video and photo editing. The advantage for the Ryzen chip is the full access to X86 software and gaming. The best iGPU for gaming in the industry currently. Also, the CPU performance is still good at 2600 single core and 1300 multi-core according to Geekbench 6. If a consumer prioritizes X86 software and gaming, then what gets sacrificed isn't too bad.
