I don't understand people, when comparing the CPUs why don't they compare the CPUs properly? Many people are comparing Snapdragon X Elite and Apple base M CPU without considering what kind of cores there are. While X Elite is having all performance cores and 12 of them at that, whereas Apple M CPU is having 50-50 split of (4) Perfomance Cores and (4) Efficiency Cores. Not a Apple fanboy, but would love to see people appreciate what company has achieved while doing fair comparison. Not just Apple, but any company who have made cpu architectural strides should be appreciated.

That's right. To keep it fair although M4-devices are often more expensive. Besides that the prices of Apple products there is no freedom of choice for an M4. I can get a laptop of all big manufacturers with X elite. Apple is a monopolist that's why I will never buy Apple. The bottom line is there is really no reason to spend more money on any Apple product and it isn't smart either to lock yourself into the apple ecosystem. .

For a first gen CPU, X Elite sure holds its own against Apple's greatest and latest, no doubt that with the X Elite Gen 2 it would be even closer to M4 while beating the M3.

Increasing the single-core performance takes the most R&D and Apple is miles ahead in that, especially with the M4. Apple achieved this despite the clock speed remaining the same, by changing the architecture of the CPU. This is something that Android and Windows-side chipmakers, who are often perceived as subpar, would never do because they don't tend to make any architectural changes at all, especially Intel. These manufacturers primarily know how to add more cores.

Looks like Geekbench is 'optimized' for macOS. Same with iOS. In Passmark CPU they are close

HARI, Not only Passmark. I don't think the CPU's are far apart and that's keeps the competition on both sides alive. Even Intel is back in the game again. As said: competition is a good thing.

M4 all the way! 🔥🔥 Qualcomm did a good job, but the power consumption of M4 is 4 times less in max load and paired with Apple's amazing integration tech, this thing is 💯💯. It performs 30 percent faster in single core and quite similar in multi-core, providing way better battery life. Most importantly, it will be coming in entry-level MacBooks. This particular, higher-clocked version of X Elite I don't think is going to come in laptops under 1300-1400 dollars. This year, MacBooks Air is going to get double RAM (hopefully it gets) and double storage, and with Apple Intelligence. OMG! 💯💯💯❤️🔥🔥 Really excited!

Blud, X Elite was made to compete against M2, let alone M3, let alone M4. Secondly X Elite laptops are gonna start at 800 dollars. Please get your facts checked before you comment

Phenro, Bud, you are comparing the highest tier of the X Elite chip against the M4, which would not be included in the $800 laptops. Get your facts right.

Phenro, The x-elite laptops start at that, but that it wont have this specific processor. The Galaxy book 4 edge with this processor is $1449.

The Snapdragon X Elite is superior to the Apple M4 in terms of performance due to its 12 performance cores and lack of efficiency cores; however, it consumes more battery than the M4. Still, the Apple M4 is better than the Snapdragon X Elite in overall terms, especially in terms of battery life. Additionally, it's uniquely complemented with its own software and hardware optimization that is excellent for mobile computing.

Newanderthal, See what you want to see. I see different things. Choosing a M4 is choosing for Apple. When you choose for an X Elite you can choose whatever you want. That alone is for me reason enough. Besides, the differences in power efficiency is nitpicking. 12 or 18 hours, who cares.

Impressive how the X Elite, launched last year, still goes head-to-head with this M4. When the X Elite is on Gen 2 or Gen 3, it will be unbeatable.

What do you think dude? Will Apple sit idle when Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2 is released? Won't they release M5? Also, M4 white washes the X Elite in most departments except for ones related to multi-core workloads since X Elite has 12 Performance Cores which is 8 more than what M4 has (comparing just performance cores) and M4 having 2 less cores overall M4 10 cores (4 Performance + 6 Efficiency) vs X Elite 12 cores (12 Performance + 0 Efficiency).

Person, Yes, this Apple vs rest of the world thing is a bit awkward. As far as I'm concerned this competition is a win for both sides. Personally I will never buy an Apple product because of the protective nature of Apple as a manufacturer. As soon Apple sells their SoC's also to other manufacturers I will consider an Apple product. Monopolists are a bad thing. But there isn't any need to do so, because of the existence of manufacturers as Qualcomm, AMD and Intel.

Geekbench 6 is fine for single core CPU performance. It isn't trustworthy for multi-core CPU performance. For multi-core CPU performance: Cinebench R24 > Cinebench R23 > Geekbench 6.

Daine Ramos Quitco, No Mac user buys a Mac for gaming anyways. They are designed for a different demographic, which is college and high scholarship students who need a decent laptop for school, or pro, but they dont go for this chip. They go for Pro and Max chips. Anyone who wants a gaming machine should always go windows. You still can game on Macs, but the compatibility is just better on windows, unless you play a game which is macOS Native and Apple Silicon Optimised.
