My take is: if you're buying new, buy M4 unless you can get a great deal on the M1 Pro - the 3 extra years of software/ security updates alone make it more value for money if you plan on using it long-term. But no one who already has an M1 Pro should upgrade to an M4. If the M1 Pro is not good enough for your use, neither would the M4 (but then you probably already know this.)

If you want cheap and less money go with M1 Pro same nothings major different in real world rather than os update

Don't buy a 4-year old machines, just get the M4 and use it for notebookish stuff or spend a little more and get an M3 pro at least.

Wow, how quickly technology develops. I remember the launch presentation of the M1 series like it was yesterday. I have the M1 Pro 16 inch, it is incredibly fast and still usable. it has high quality speakers, amazing display. It can be used for about 5-7 more years at most. This is my opinion, I would like to recommend it to people who will buy it. You can buy m1 pro-max or m3 pro, DON'T BUY M2 Series the performance is the same as m1's don't notice any difference, don't pay more.
