3 x Cortex-X4
64 KB Instruction cache + 64 KB Data cache
1 MB Private L2 cache

or
64 KB Instruction cache + 64 KB Data cache
512 KB Private L2 cache
12 MB L3 cache (shared by all CPU cores)
10 MB SLC (shared by CPU, GPU, NPU, etc.)
Serhii, I noticed you combined the L1 instruction cache and data cache here while in others only the L1 instruction cache is shown. I think for the L1 information part, both should be shown because data cache is just as important as instruction cache and that both should be separated though still presented side by side. Maybe, write it as 64 KB + 64 KB instead.

It's impressive that it supports 8K resolution at 60 fps, especially since no smartphones currently offer this capability.

You did same mistake with the snapdragon 8 elite where it gave 7.2 teraflops but you guys claimed it was 3.1 teraflop which was lower than the 8 gen 2 that had 3.4 teraflops

fuuk1, Actually what he said it's true, the reason why is that it's because:
The phones were being tested on low power mode instead of performance mode, like
Snapdragon 8+ gen 1 in low power mode aka battery saving mode, it has 1,8 tflops in gpu (average 2,5 tflops), but in performance mode it's 3,01 tflops
Same goes with 8 gen 2 and newer, only older than 8 gen 1 had actually in performance mode the specified tflops
And how it is calculated? Well, check what qualcomm says, if it's 30% gpu improvement in perfomance, then you're adding 30% of the previous gpu tflops to get the newer gpu's tflops result.
8 elite gpu has 40% more performance than of 8 gen 3 which is the same percentage as 8 gen 3 to 8 gen 2
8 gen 2 gpu has 3,7 tflops, so 8 gen 3 has 5,28 tflops, and so 8 elite gpu has over 7,4 tflops

And let's not start with Exynos, UNISOC and others... unless, Huawei with their new Taishan core are all Out of Order and manages to fight them all.

There is an error in this information because an official source confirms that the graphics processor contains 2048 unified shader cores, a frequency of 1612 MHz, and 4 arithmetic operations, so 1612 * 2048 * 4 gives 13 Tflops.

I already expected that MTK9400 would be lower than 8 Gen 4. Six cores Oryon at 3.6 GHz would be better than the others of MTK 9400. In SC, it was less likely to be close. However, at 3.6 GHz, it can already achieve a very high score. To get the D9400 closer in future, I should do this: Cortex X925 at 4.4 GHz, X4 at 3.65 GHz, A725 at 3.2 GHz. Only then do I see myself able to beat 8 Gen 4 in CPU. However, don't expect this since MTK does not want to risk using extreme frequency cores. In terms of GPU, there may be a close fight.

FydgeSeptember 19, 2024 at 02:02 PM
Void..., There's a reason why MediaTek only clocks the Dimensity 9400's Cortex-X925 at around 3.63 GHz (at least in the leaks). That's because the Cortex-X925 when used in phone SoCs is only supposed to go up to a maximum of 3.60 GHz due to thermal restraints. It doesn't matter anyway because in real life even the Cortex-X4 of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 barely runs above 2.60 GHz even in demanding games.
What happened to this site? I thought the benchmarks were the performance of the actual retail device. Are we posting rumored benchmarks now?

These scores are not accurate. The actual scores are 2700-2800/9600-9800 on Geekbench 6, as reported by Digital Chat Station. The minimal difference in configuration from Dimensity 9300 to Dimensity 9400 accounts for this similarity.
Let's explain the Dimensity 9300 first. It was capable of scoring: 4Γ650 = 2600 for four A720 cores and 3Γ1800 = 5400 for three X4 cores at 2.8 GHz, plus 2100 for one X4 core at 3.2 GHz. The total score is 2800+5400+2100 = 10,100.
However, it does not achieve this score due to the following reasons:
1) Cache: Less cache prevents all cores from performing maximally and efficiently when all are active. This is typical for both Qualcomm and MediaTek chips, resulting in scores about 10% lower than predicted. Therefore, after deducting 10%, the score is around 9100.
2) Power Consumption: Four A720 cores at 2.0 GHz consume 3W (4Γ0.75W), three X1 cores at 2.8 GHz consume 9.75W (3Γ3.25W), and one X1 core at 3.2 GHz consumes 4.25W. The total power consumption is 17W. However, in Geekbench 6 power consumption tests, MediaTek has limited peak power consumption to just 14W, which is why the scores do not exceed 8000. Although it does not reach its maximal potential, this also prevents it from overheating.
Considering the above scenarios, if the Dimensity 9300 were made on a 3nm node, like the 9400, which is 15% more efficient, the predicted peak consumption on 3nm for the 9300 would be 17W - 15% = 14.45W. Thus, MediaTek Dimensity 9300 could achieve its maximum performance of 2200/9000 on a 3nm node.
Coming to the Dimensity 9400, is almost the same as the Dimensity 9300 but with one X5 instead of one X4. Since the X5 scores 600 points more than the X4 (2800 vs 2200), it should only score 600 more than the Dimensity 9300.
As shown above, the Dimensity 9300 would score 2200/9000 on a 3nm node, so the Dimensity 9400 with the additional 600 points would score 2700-2800/9600-9800. This aligns precisely with what Digital Chat Station has reported.

Dr Mujeeb HamidApril 20, 2024 at 06:30 AM
Explaining Dimensity 9400 on geekbench 6.
Scenario 1 : if it was made one same node as Dimensity 9300, that's, TSMC 3rd gen 4nm node.
---> 4 Γ cortex A730 operating at 2.2 ghz will score '4Γ850=3400' @ '4Γ0.9=3.6w'
---> 3 Γ cortex X4 operating at 2.9 ghz will score '3Γ1900=5700' @ '3Γ3.66=11w'
---> 1 Γ cortex X5 operating at 3.4 ghz will score '2700' @ '6w'
Total score - 3400+5700+2700= 11800.
Total power consumption - 3.6+11+6 = 20.6w.
*** Inefficiency and cache problem always reduces peak performance of Qualcomm chips and MediaTek chips by around 10% and at peak performance a 10% reduction in performance is associated with 15% reduction in power consumption.
----> so final performance of Dimensity 9400 on unhindered TDP on 4nm tsmc will be '11800 - 10% = 10600' will consuming '20.6 - 15% = 17.51 w'
Scenario 2 : since dimensity 9400 is made on 3nm and which is 25% more efficient than 1st gen 4nm tsmc (5nm actually) and only 15% more efficient than 3rd gen 4nm tsmc (on which above scores are calculated). So taking this 15% factor in mind,
we get predicted performance of dimensity 9400 as '2600-2800/10600' @ ' 17.51w- 15% = 14.88w'. since MediaTek is limiting TDP to only 13-14w, so final performance will be 2600/9600-9800 @ 13-14w. But who knows, Maybe MediaTek will become like Bionic a17 pro which has peak tdp of 14.25w on Geekbench 6, then we are in for a surprise score of above 10000.
PS : dimensity 9400 might be seeming a tad inefficient @ 9800/14w = 700/w. But these are scores at peak performance. Usually even the most intense games require a constant score of just 3000-5000 and at those scores dimensity 9400 will be 1.5 - 2 times more efficient.
In other words, it will score 3000 @ 2.15w and 5000 @ 4.5w respectively.
