Benchmarks are one thing, real world performance and optimization is another. realistically the Dimensity 9400 cant beat the A18 pro because of optimization and I think that's always more important than raw performance.

you should change the CPU performance on the A18 pro to 99 or 100 (most likely 99) because it beats the Dimensity 9400 in multicore by a little bit and the dimensity 9400 in single core by a lot yet its still at 98? I don't think that's fair

Phenro November 9, 2024 at 06:00 AM
That's because the the performance per watt is better than A18 and it also runs more efficiently than it... Single core is higher not by raw power but by implementation of SME which only has application in AI, a domain where the 9300 itself scores better than A18 Pro...

somone#47, That's almost amount combined throughout the whole sessions makes a lot of difference in efficiency and keeps it cool And well as we all know Iphones compared to Androids don't have that many functions and sensors So keeping the all in check and everything it's scored (I might be wrong but that's my Thesis)

Multi core scores are lower on A18 Pro Single core scores are lower on 9400 because it runs on 3.6 ghz rather than 4 ghz on A18 Pro If both cores runs on same frequency than its over for apple Also the apple gpu is too weak as compared to 8 gen 4 or 9400

Many people don’t realize that while the MediaTek chip can theoretically reach 7 TFLOPS at full power, it only hits this peak under maximum power usage and throttles quickly due to power constraints. In contrast, the A18 Pro delivers a consistent 2.3 TFLOPS without significant power consumption. As a result, the MediaTek chip likely operates far below its potentialβ€”around 1-2 TFLOPS at best. Additionally, Android games and apps aren't typically optimized for a single chip, making the comparison even more skewed. The Apple chip, with its ability to run at full power consistently, will always perform better in real-world scenarios.

This amount of cope is so pathetic tbh. I can't believe you as a consumer is protecting a company because it has been outperformed by its competition instead of taking it as winning for having better, cheaper and more powerful options. Sometimes Apple behaves in its way due to consumers like you.

It doesn't matter because the MediaTek chip will never use that kind of power due to power consumption. To reach that level of performance, it would need 20 watts or more, which is unthinkable for a phoneβ€”it would last only minutes, not even a full hour. Meanwhile, the A18 Pro consistently delivers full power with minimal power consumption.

Dandee, FYI Apple meat-rider, the GPU of D9400 can match the peak performance of the GPU of A18 Pro at half the power consumption. Plus, even with the higher clock speed, the GPU of D9400 still consumes slightly less power than the GPU of A18 Pro. A18 Pro only beats D9400 in CPU.

I don't think the gap between the single core scores of Apple A18 Pro and Dimensity 9400 would be that significant, i.e., around 3600+ for A18 Pro and around 2800 for Dimensity 9400. I believe Dimensity 9400 would have a single core score of around 2800-2900 and a multi-core score of around 11,000 something. And Apple A18 Pro will have a single core score of around 3400 - 3550 and a multi-core score of around 9500 something. Android is almost catching up with iOS in terms of single core score of CPU and has already outperformed Apple in multi-core score. And in GPU too, I think Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 would have a little more powerful GPUs than their Apple counterpart, i.e., Apple GPU. I'm glad that happens because I'm tired of people obsessing with iPhones and though I think iPhones are great, they are too expensive, especially in countries like India where I live. For example, in the USA, a 256 GB iPhone 15 Pro Max costs around $1,100 while the same phone costs around β‚Ή1,50,000 in India. If you convert dollars to rupees, $1,100 is around β‚Ή91,000 something, so, a 256 GB iPhone 15 Pro Max is more expensive in India by around β‚Ή60,000, which, when converted to dollar is around $720+. So, we in India pay an extra $720+ to get the same phone than what the buyers in USA pay, which is insane, to say the least. If the difference in price were around $100 - $150, then I'd be alright but $720+ is too much, you know. You could get a good Android phone with $720+ (β‚Ή60,000) in India like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered phones like OnePlus 12, IQoo 12 (16GB +512GB) and so on. This is why I don't want to buy iPhones in India and I haven't, it's because I not only have no money to buy the iPhones but I think it's daylight robbery, too, considering the difference in price in India and other countries like America.

Yes this is the price difference and because I live in Asia but not from India or China , it's even worse for us because it will be imported from there . So for example , phones that are good midrange in India or China can be Flagship price. 300$ phones in there can be 400$-500$ dependingly and from ship to other parts can be more or so. This is however still less than that Humoungous 720 $ ! I paid 800$ for a 500$ laptop because it has to ship from outside but iphone price there is crazy.. What's worse is if that same Indian Iphone comes to our place it can reach ,2300$ ! It's even worse for countries from other continent when there is heavy tax :0

Comparing the Media Tek dimensity 9400 chip which runs on android to Apple A18 pro chip which runs on iOS is kinda like comparing oranges to apples since some people prefer android while others prefer iOS. That said, you can't compare those 2 chips against each other.

Actually no, that's not at all true... while yes the A18 is a system on chip, compared to the D9400 and SD8G4, the performance is what matters... the geekbench score and 3d mark wildlife scores.... especially these two.... So yes the comparison does make sense, even if they are not fundamentally the same.... Needless to say, for the current smartphones, 2500+ single core is more than enough and 7000+ multicore is more than enough... We have finally reached a stage where chipsets are actually overperforming, more than necessary.... Like 3500 single core of A18 is not going to be drastically faster than 2900 single core of A17... Similarly, 10000 multicore of D9400 is not going to be drastically faster than 7500 multicore of D9300 Even though the difference is huge, 99% of time in real life we won't notice the difference.

Phenro, Very True, I think the chip makers should focus more on efficiency rather than power. A single core score of 2500 and a multi core score of 7000/8000 is more than enough to handle everything with ease
