The single core performance decides the longevity of the product and the M4 is like years ahead in that. Intel and Amd only know how to cram in a gazillion garbage cores only to be beat up by a 10 core M4

Thats a shitty take if I have ever heard one, if you really wanna go compete for raw numbers go check out the AI max 395 or the X3D chips (where the 395+ gets close to M4 max a bit worse, and the X3D just runs loops and loops around it), this is a low tier intel chip that I have seen in devices costing 599$ and still going bar for bar to a MBP14 with a M4 (1500$ starting btw) while still giving comparable battery life, and the X84 app support, just the iGPU outperforms the M4 forget about a dGPU which would eat it for breakfast..... I am writing this on a device which cost me 2000$ (Thinkpad P1 gen 8) and has the 255H, RTX Pro Blackwell 2000, 32GB ram, 1TB storage, a beautiful sensel haptic trackpad and a Thinkpad level keyboard, with a metal chassis that has beyond exceptional build quality and 10 hours of battery life, not to mention a GORGEOUS Touch, Pen supported Tandem OLED, face and fingerprint login, wifi 7, TB 5 all that while being lighter than the MBP16. If you try to get the cheapest MBP to similar storage and ram the price on it is (no joke) 2300$ and the GPU in that would be beat by just my iGPU, forget the blackwell.... Try to match the GPU power and the price goes over 3000$, EASILY. Oh and My ram is faster than the MBP but still upgradable, storage can be upgraded to 8 TB, I can replace entire ports if they go bad without needing to change my motherboard. All while being on a much better OS thats not a glorified tablet (oh wait tablets have a touchscreen nvm).

As crazy as it may sound, I would rather go with the Intel Ultra 7 255H CPU in a mini-PC for the X86 access. The multi-core CPU performance is nearly identical according the Cinebench R24 test. The iGPU TFLOPs power is nearly identical too, including encoders & decoders. For laptops, the M4 chip in the M4 Air or M4 MacBook Pro. The cost currently (late March 2025) is more effective for the M4 chip laptop than laptops using the Intel Ultra 255H CPU laptops. Also, the batter life is better.
