CPU wise is pretty much OK. The issue is GPU. Is HEAVILY unoptimized, Google must step up in order to not to be left behind. PS: And supposedly Xiaomi and UNISOC were planning to release another processor with Imagination GPU inside.

The Xiaomi will be using is much better than this. It will be using the DXT-72-2304. So expect that that will perform much better.

Max frequency in that score was only 2.0ghz, compared to 3.4 ghz, so clearly device was running in battery saver mode, & at only 60% capacity, or even lower. Comparison between tensor G5 & 8G3: Cortex x4 @ 3.4 ghz vs 3.3 ghz 5 Cortex a725 @ 2.85 ghz vs 5 cortex a720 @ 3.15 & 2.96 ghz 2 Cortex a525 @ 2.4 ghz vs 2 cortex 520 @ 2.27. So clearly from above comparison, tensor g5 is a better chip. (Some might say cortex a725 is clocked at lower frequency, well, that ain't true. Bcz cortex a725 scores 12 % more at same frequency than a720. That means 2.85 ghz of cortex a725 is equal to 3.2 ghz of cortex 720) Now add another dimension as well, tsmsc 3nm is 20-25 % more efficient than tsmc 4nm. So in all, tensor g5 will be a better chip than 8g3 by around 25 % in gaming efficiency & sustained tasks but in multicore scores it will just be around the same as 8 gen 3. Exp Gekbnech 6 scores : 8 gen 3 vs tensor g5 Typical scores : 2100/7000 vs 2200/7200 Highest scores : 2300/7450 @ 11.3w vs 2375/7600 @ 8.5w 3w scores : 3922 vs 4600 (Note : @ 3w d9300 scored 3590 & d9400 scored 4360. That's a 20 % improvement. Consider also that Dimensity 9300 & 9400 used same 7 nodes, only difference was cortex x4 vs x5. They did use more frequencies as well, but their gain is at high scores only not at 3w point. What I wanted to say is that d9400 scores better bcz of tsmc 3nm nodes, which is used by tensor g5 as well ). PS : in typical multicore score calculation, all the 3 chips, i.e, A18 pro, D9400 & 8 elite consume either 12w or even more. So tensor g4 can still go above 8.5w to achieve more score, but there will be very minor gains. Only way they can have gains above 8.5w is if they use more L2 cache. But i doubt they will do so. If they used more than 16mb of L2 cache, then multicore scores will cross even 8000. So u can't rule out a score of 2375/8100 as well. But it will realistically touch only 2375/7600. *Tensor G5 will have same efficiency at 3w (which matters most ) as A18 pro & 8 elite. But beyond 8w, A18 pro & 8 elite will be better chips.

By the time it releases it still be two years behind like the previous Tensors even if they switched to TSMC. Also TSMCs future is uncertain cause of those US tariffs.

arun, He is talking about the CPU. In fact, Tensor G5 outperform 8 Gen 3 in CPU. Most of the scores gained by 8 Gen 3 is from its GPU, which I doubt DXT-48-1536 could manage to reach. Maybe if they have used the DXT-72, but they didn't so yeah that's it.

TG5, Of course it won't reach the 8 elite level because the core used is not the latest X925, as well as the GPU is not Immortalis whatsoever. The best we can expect i guess is for it to gain more efficiency compared to previous tensors
