8 gen 2 as overall a better chipset considering everything. It's so disappointing to see you guys are believing in antutu 11's gpu score and making verdict on the basis of that. The antutu 11 gpu score is totally wrong.I don’t know they used which parameters. 8s gen 3 is chiper version launched later to provide flagship performance at low budget but notice that they cut cost in every aspect to make it cheaper. The adreno 740 is roughly 15% better than the adreno 735.Adreno 735 is an over clocked version of adreno 730. You can check "Notebook check" gpu scores and results. Please make your data correct.

Dont buy any 8s series they are good on paper but in long run they are trash,my Poco F6 after 1.3 yrs starts to have lags in games after newer updates, Qualcomm cares only about the Flagship cips, dont buy mid range,u will get the same experince for like max 2 years, after that u will have optimization problems.

I was afraid of this idea... it hurts me. That's another reason why F7 pro is better than F7, not only cuz is a more comfortable smaller phone, or that has 2k screen resolution, but most important is becuase it carries a true high range snapdragon soc, that will have more official and not official support

What are you talking about?, my F6 (8/256) still runs many games flawlessly, it might be because you can't afford to bother with adding something like a fan cooler that cost not even 1/10th of the phone price. With cooler the F6 still smokes many mid range phones with Dimensity 7300 and Exynos 1680

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has Hexagon Gen 2 NPU and Adreno 740 GPU, where as Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 has Hexagon Gen 3 NPU and Adreno 735 GPU. Hexagon Gen 3 is 40% more powerful than Gen 2, and Adreno 740 is 25% more powerful than Adreno 735. To put it in simple terms. If you want better AI performance go with SD 8s Gen3. And if you want more gaming performance go with SD 8 Gen 2.

Is it me or those CPUs doesn’t make sense?? In 8s gen 3 all the cortex is newer and better so it should score higher geekbench and antutu score but it doesn’t have much of a difference?? What am I missing here? I know the 8 gen 2’s cortex X3 is 3.2GHz vs 3.0 GHz for cortex x4 but that won’t make big difference will it?

random person, Go for 8 Gen 2 because it's older than 8S Gen 3, and SD chipsets are open source, meaning developers of each game like PUBG, CoDM, Freefire, and other FPS games can freely access it to optimize their games. Fortunately, they have already finished tweaking or optimizing their games for 8 Gen 2, so expect smoother and higher frame rates and graphics. The same goes for MOBA games.

In reality, K70 8 Gen 2 is very heating when playing games, and FPS is unstable, leading to a bad experience. Z9 Turbo 8s Gen 3, with the same game playing, is cooler and the FPS is much more stable than K70. Therefore, the problem lies in device optimization, not the chipset.

On paper sd 8s gen 3 appears as a very powerful processor but in reality it doesn't live upto it's expectations. Sd 8s gen 3 in poco f6 heats up a lot and starts to throttle down it's performance. This could be the reason why it's sells much cheaper than sd 8 gen 2 phones. In terms of cpu both are very similar but due to the better gpu present in sd 8 gen 2 makes it a better option of heavy gaming. So in my conclusion sd 8s gen3 < sd 7 plus gen 3 < sd 8 gen 2 < sd 8 gen 3

You see, the 8S Gen 3 is just using an overclocked 8+ Gen 1 GPU. If you use Nano review's compare tool, you'll see that the Adreno 730, and the 735 have similar characteristics (Shaders, Pipelines, etc). The only major difference is in the clock speed. That's the reason why you should go for the 8 Gen 2, if you're dedicated to gaming. The overclock on the 8S Gen 3's GPU will make it run very hot in no time, as confirmed by YouTube tests. Pick wisely! πŸ˜‰

Just a slight correction; the GPU of 8S Gen 3 is not an overclocked GPU 8 Plus Gen 1. Both do not share the same microarchitecture. The 8S Gen 3 has 25% less ALUs than what's found in the 8 Plus Gen 1. Also, the 8S Gen 3 supports real-time, hardware-accelerated ray-tracing, while the 8 Plus Gen 1 only supports software-accelerated ray-tracing.

The SD 8s Gen 3 indeed has an overclocked GPU from the 8+ Gen 1. Furthermore, it's 1+4+3 combination kinda reminds me of the 1+2+2+3 combo (the 2+2 of which contains A7xx performance cores) from the 8 Gen 2, yet some people can't help but deny the truth even when it's already in front of their eyes πŸ˜”

Like they allow us to have Video out through the Type-C Port , "Only" Flagships do that . The 8S Gen 3 is still very much a viable option as its newer architecture and improved effeciency is just crazy . For example , The POCO F6 A.K.A Redmi Turbo 3 is very much an Value For Money phone compared to its competetiors . 512 GB UFS 4.0 , 12 GB LPDDR5X , 90% Screen To Body ratio packing a Dolby Atmos Stereo Dual Speaker Setup and Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ Support for the display powered by that sweet 8s gen 3 paired with close to 5000mm^2 VC Chamber and 90W Quick Charge . I'd say thats VALUE . For some crazy Android Modder like me , the ability to also unlock the phone's bootloader is also a given plus . It even has more gaming features that most phones in the segment with the exception of IQOO . I have seen many reviews and tests , The POCO F6 was the ONLY one which maintained constant recordings accross the board . My Final Thoughts , Just go for it man.

Generally, for any game like Genshin Impact, COD Warzone, CPU performance and efficiency per watt is very important apart from performance. The 8 Gen 2 has a 6.3W TDP while the 8S Gen 3 has a 6W TDP according to NanoReview, so the 8S Gen 3 is more efficient. These games bottleneck CPU's more than GPU when running at a lower framerate, A.K.A. 60-30, so I'd say get the 8S Gen 3 as it has more "features" compared to 8 Gen 2. Mainly in day-to-day usage of AI tools.

Wrong, That could be a software issue because the 8 gen 2 is primarily a pretty old cpu , released in 2022 . the 8s gen 3 is a very recent soc and the 7+gen 3 is not a competetior for 8 gen 2 so i would say the 8s gen 3 has better cpu effeciency as it uses new architecture compared to 8 gen 2 . also note that the 8s gen 3 shows better image processing scores compared to 8 gen 2.

I think I'd go for Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 over 8 Gen 2 because it's not only the newer version, but also utilizes X4 core, whereas Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 utilizes X3 core at a higher clock speed, i.e., 3.2 GHz for SD 8 Gen 2 and X4 at 3 GHz for SD 8s Gen 3. As X4 core is the newer core, it is supposedly faster than X3 core, perhaps by 10% to 15%. So, I think Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 scores higher in CPU, though Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scores slightly higher in the GPU department. However, I'm not an avid gamer and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is fast and powerful enough to take on any games and apps thrown at it with ease and efficiency. So, yes, though Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a little less powerful in GPU, I'd prefer it over Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In fact, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is sufficient for my activities on my phone as it also utilizes X4 core at 2.8 GHz, I think, along with Cortex A720 and Cortex A520 cores. And Adreno 732, right, in Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is powerful enough to handle my gaming activities and other activities on my phone. That's why I might go for Realme GT 6T over Poco F6 because Realme GT 6T has a 5500 mAh battery with 120W fast charging while Poco F6 has, I think, a 5000 mAh battery with 120W charging. Though I prefer Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 over Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3, they are both powerful for my use, and I think Realme GT 6T is also more attractive than Poco F6, as I take looks seriously too.

So many benchmarks showed 8G2 has a faster CPU than 8S G3, not sure why.

The 8s gen 3 uses newer arm core designs but they cut the cache sizes so in terms of efficiency it's the same. And the peak performance (that nobody should care about bcs it's not sustainable) of the 8 gen 2 is higher. The gpu tho is a whole different story. The Adreno 735 (that of the 8s gen 3) is basically just an overclocked Adreno 730 (that of the 8+ gen 1). It doesn't even reach the same peak performance at 1100mhz as the 8 gen 2 at 680mhz and the adreno 735 is way way less efficient. For comparison: the 8 gen 2 reaches the same performance at 6 Watts as the 8s gen 3 reaches at 11 Watts On the lower spectrum the efficiency gap is smaller tho

niveZz, Just a slight correction, the GPU of 8S Gen 3 is not an overclocked GPU 8 Plus Gen 1. Both do not share the same microarchitecture as the 8S Gen 3 has 25% less ALUs than what's found in the 8 Plus Gen 1. Also, the 8S Gen 3 supports real-time hardware-accelerated ray-tracing while the 8 Plus Gen 1 only supports software-accelerated ray-tracing.

Truth, True. 8; they don't use the number for no reasonable reason to class it there. 8s Gen 3 with the the S is more like a Sigma. It is better in another way but 8 Gen 3 still the alpha

Sd 8s Gen3 have the new architecture & nothing too low than 2 years older SD gen2. Definitely go the newly launch one & it is in the 8 family & it definitely be a reason to be there. Go for x4 instead x3. If you going to shop for phone now, you won't be picking 8 gen 2. Either you have the money for 8gen3 or just get 8sgen3.

Muruku Basi, you're looking for a(n existing) device that has (proven) custom ROM support. It doesn't always come down to the newest/latest SoC/hardware, it depends on one's use-case/purpose.

A used Nubia Z50 is nice for me, it has a 8g2 which seems weaker but there isn’t much of a difference and the camera is much better on it. I even saw a few deals of it being less than 300 dollars while having 16Gb and 1TB

only go for real flagship. e.g. 8gen2 or 8gen3 (gen1-the heater or +gen1 seem too old to be a great deal) not sd8sgen whatever and dont save your bucks for sd7

I believe the 8th generation, Gen 3 processor, was produced with a clear strategy in mind. The use of the phrase "Gen 3" may lure technically uninformed individuals, even though Samsung might not be keen on this approach.

Okay, so the 8th Gen 3 performs 25% less efficiently than the 8th Gen 2 when it comes to graphics. I gathered this information from YouTube, where people have reviewed this chipset. Unfortunately, it's somewhat inadequate for gamers. You're better off with the 8th Gen 2 unless you're interested in superior 5G and on-device AI functions. I'm quite sure that AI and 3GPP Release 17 are the only advantages over the 8th Gen 2.

The Snapdragon X70 embedded within the 8s Gen 3 has lower theoretical speeds compared to the Snapdragon X70 embedded within the 8 Gen 2 (both SOCs are equipped with an SD X70 modem, but their performance is different according to the official documentation). If anything, it's the SD X70 in the 8 Gen 2 that offers broader 5G functionality. 8 Gen 2 supports up to 10Gbps, the 8s Gen 3 supports up to 6.5Gbps.

So, they basically repeated the same pattern as last year, releasing a chipset that is overall near but slightly weaker than their flagship chipset from the year before. This chipset has a much closer CPU performance than GPU (Adreno 735) performance. The difference this time is that they used the same CPU architecture as their latest flagship. Interestingly, they made two identical chips. The other one is the 7+ Gen 3, which includes an older two-year-old GPU, Adreno 730, that was also used in the 8 Gen 1 and 8+ Gen 1.

Both the 8sg3 and 7+g3 have the same GPU. The only difference is that the clock rate is lower and there's no ray tracing on the a732 within the 7+g3. The difference is simply between 950MHz and 1100MHz, which doesn't significantly affect standard gaming performance.
