Less than 10% CPU multi-core performance isn't impressive. Programmers might as well not upgrade to the M5 Pro MBP. Just skip it and go for the M6 Pro MBP or find an M4 Pro MBP in the refurbished market in good condition.

Given how amazing the M4 Pro (14-core) is, no need to upgrade to the M5 Pro (18-core). Save some money. If you can and want to upgrade, wait until the M6 Pro comes out in October/November 2026. If you cannot wait to upgrade, get the M5 Pro (18-core) and trade it in for the M6 Pro when it gets released.
