Obviously the ryzen 5700U one. Performance is twice as much better and power consumption is lower. You'll get much better performance and battery life with ryzen 5700U.

Of course, go with ryzen 5700u. Almost all the photo and video editing apps kick in the multi-core function of the chips in which 5700u is miles ahead compared to i7. So I would recommend 5700u.

Can't decide between Ryzen 7 5700u or the I7. Need it for segmentation of images or to process images with Fiji. I have large images of the size 2-5GB, sometimes I have several images open and run a code on them in parallel. Or should I look for something better?

SQL Server needs better IO, and more cores, so 5700U could be better in this case

currently torn between a dell exp with this intel i7 or an Inspiron with the ryzen 7 for c# development. do we reckon the 4 additional cores is going to be better in this scenario or just add more ram? -cisco

Of course, more cores are better for multi-core use cases like code compilation. Ryzen is the way to go.

joe, I got an AMD 5700u and I am very happy with the multi tasking ability. The 8 cores in the 5700 are fantastic but each core clocks at a slower speed than the i7 so for most gaming application the core i7 would be better but ONLY if all you are doing is gaming. AMD 5700 is untouched by i7 when it comes to gaming, streaming, music, and downloading all at once.

What-the, Luke said the Intel 1165G7 is better for gaming alone, but if you want to also stream your gameplay, then the performance in the gameplay will be slowed by your streaming more if you use 1165G7 instead of 5700U because of the core count difference.

The thing is, the 5800h uses higher wattage, in terms of power to performance, the 5700u and 5800u are any day better.

They seem pretty close. The standouts being octa vs quad core, and lower power consumption for the AMD (likely better battery life). Aside from that, I'm not seeing a huge difference. What am I missing?

Tobywoo, The Intel 1165G7 is faster, but the Ryzen 5700U is better at handling more tasks at once due to having twice as many cores. Let's say you play a game and do nothing else at that moment. 1165G7 will give better performance due to being faster. Now let's say you play a game and you stream it at the same time. The 1165G7 will struggle a bit because these are 2 different tasks while the Ryzen 5700U will do better due to having twice as many cores.
