7+ gen 2 is not as much weaker as you are showing, it really has a very powerful and optimised cpu which delivers similar cpu performance like the 8+gen1 despite being lower clocked. Cpu is obviously better in Snapdragon 7+gen 2. Now if I talk about the gpu, The gpu is more powerful in dimensity 8300, It's capable to beat adreno 730 and can be said adreno 730+ like. But the adreno 725 in snapdragon is not so much less powerful as your statistics showing. If you give 8300 a 37 out of 100 in gaming, then the snapdragon 7+gen 2 can easily get 30 out of hundreds. Don't trust blindly on antutu, they change their algorithm according to their self created parameters, like they are not focusing on gpu in amtutu 11. As you can see there is a huge change in gpu score of amtutu v11 which is kinda funny now. They are showing adreno 740

The CPU differences are minimal, even the D8300 sometimes shows better score in the antutu V11 and geekbench6 single/multi core. The real difference between the two of these Socs are e the GPU. the gap are massive.

It's not MediaTek's fault. It's Xiaomi. Xiaomi has very very poor software optimisation that eats up battery doing very minimal tasks. The Poco F6 isn't any better; all because of HyperOS.

Please update the comparison between 7+ Gen3 and these two: CPU = 8Gen2 and GPU = 8+Gen1. However, optimize the battery for gaming on a cellular network. Expect stable performance in gaming on your own network. It is ranked as follows: 8Gen2 > 7+Gen3 > md8300 > 7+Gen2.

For those who are curious about the POCO X6 Pro (MDTK8300), the build quality, overall performance, battery life, and charging capability are all satisfactory. However, the device tends to overheat, particularly during graphically demanding games such as Farlight 84, Genshin Impact, etc. This issue, however, can be dependent on the surrounding temperature. To combat the heat, I recommend using an electric fan or a phone cooler. In terms of the camera, it's not the best and could benefit from some optimization.

The only significant upgrade on the 8300U is the GPU, which is clearly more capable. However, in terms of CPU, they fare equal in sustained performance. Regarding gaming, the superior compatibility of SD chips is indeed beneficial. Given a choice between the Poco F5 and Poco X6 Pro, I'd select the F5 due to its heightened compatibility with emulators. The GPU on the 7th Gen+2 is more than sufficient for gaming on PS2, Wii/GC at 1080p with stable framerates. This also holds true for other games like PUBG, CoD, Fortnite, Apex, etc.

Dario, you're right! For emulation and gaming in general, Snapdragon chipsets are always the best. Their performance is similar to PC chipsets like Nvidia, Radeon etc. If I were I given a choice between between Sd 765G and D 9300 devices, I would choice Sd 765G.

Fahim, The D 8300 may work well for Android games. However, for especially advanced emulation (e.g., Switch emulation), the chip performs terribly. I would suggest that the SD 778G is a superior choice compared to this chip.

HelioG420, It may perform well. But I strongly advise against using any MediaTek chipsets for emulation. You should use Snapdragon chipsets. If Nanoreview compares Sd 845 to D 8300 Ultra, you would think D 8300 is god of Sd 845, but in reality, especially in reality of emulation, the opposite is true. For example, If you emulate heavy switch games like Red Dead Redemption or Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice in D 8300, the frame rate is first impressive and averages between 70 - 85, then it suddenly drops to 10 then to zero, then the game crashes or lags badly. Snapdragon chipsets are best. They behave like PC chipsets like Nvidia, Radeon and support custom configurations like using drivers which correct defects in games.

Though I appreciate the Dimensity 8300, I wish MediaTek had upgraded the chip by incorporating at least one Cortex X3 core @ 3.25 GHz. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have 3 x Cortex A715 or, preferably, 3 x Cortex A720 @ 3.15 GHz and an efficiency core of 4 x Cortex A520 @ 2.2 GHz. Moreover, I believe the GPU should have been amped up with a Mali G720 MP8 to make it highly competitive, potentially outperforming even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Nes V, Well, I was merely expressing a wish. I believe MediaTek chips are excellent and I simply desired that the Dimensity 8300 (or Ultra) would be manufactured in a manner that would enable it to compete with even the best chips offered by Snapdragon. I hope MediaTek updates the Dimensity 8300 by adding an X3 Core and upgrading its GPU further, ideally by adding at least 2 more cores, for example, Mali G615 MP8 or even Mali G720 MP8, or perhaps even MP10.

PeeCee, So, you're saying MediaTek should follow the same approach with the 9000 series processor as they do with the 8000 series? In the 9000 series, there's at least one peak performance (X) core, whereas in the 8000 series, efficiency cores are also used as peak performance cores. Moreover, MediaTek uses the 7 series GPU in the 9000 series, while it employs the 6 series GPU in the 8000 series.

The Gen 2 7+ is powerful enough, although I'm not certain about the efficiency of MediaTek. It seems to force the whole CPU into any task, which causes overheating and uses more power. MediaTek is designed to provide maximum performance in all aspects. The Gen 2 7+ is a highly efficient chip, able to run 8-9 hours of screen-on time (SOT) on the Poco F5, including 1.30 hours of BGMi, plus using YouTube, Facebook, and emails. However, my friend only clocked 6-7 hours SOT with the Iqoo Neo 7, which uses the Dimensity 8200 chip, even with just normal use of YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

SosoSam, I've been using the Poco F5 powered by Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 for a couple of months now, and although the handset doesn't quite seem to reach 8-9 hours of screen-on time (SOT), it does offer substantial longevity. I believe it averages around 6-7 hours of SOT. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 itself is indeed an efficient and robust processor. On a different note, the Poco X6 Pro is a superior phone that surprisingly doesn't cost more than the Poco F5. It comes equipped with the powerful Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset β€” an upgrade over the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. Other specifications include LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0, a 1.5K AMOLED display that reaches up to 1800 nits of brightness (compared to Poco F5's 1000 nits), further sweetened by the feature of 120W super-fast charging.

PeeCee, I've been contemplating which device to purchase for long-term use. By long term, I mean I plan to use the stock ROM for 1-2 years, after which I'll install a custom ROM on the device I choose. So, I've been trying to decide which device would get better support: the Poco F5 (SD7+gen2) or the Poco X6 Pro (mtk8300Ultra). Also, I somewhat agree with the previous person who noted that the MTK heats up. Despite the cold weather in India, reviewers have mentioned that after half an hour of gaming on BGMI (PUBG), the device begins to warm up.

PeeCee, I'm also a Poco F5 user. Initially, I was somewhat disappointed with my hasty decision to purchase the F5. However, the F5 has proven to be much more robust; it doesn't break like the X6 Pro does. Plus, the F5 comes with a 2-year warranty.

Jana, Though I haven't personally used the Poco X6 Pro and I'm not entirely sure what you mean, I don't believe it "breaks" easily. I've been completely satisfied with the performance of the Poco F5. However, if someone is looking for a performance-oriented phone, I think the Poco X6 Pro would be the ideal choice for the following reasons: 1. The Poco X6 Pro employs UFS 4.0, which is currently the fastest internal storage available for smartphones. 2. It boasts LPDDR5X RAM. This is faster and more efficient than its predecessor, LPDDR5 RAM. The only RAM currently superior to LPDDR5X is LPDDR5T, which is used by very few phones, a couple of Vivo models, I believe. 3. The Poco X6 Pro harnesses the power of the Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset. This is a highly competent and fast SoC. It's almost as swift as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and certainly faster than a Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2. Therefore, I'd likely choose the Poco X6 Pro over the Poco F5 due to its superior system on a chip (SoC), speedier RAM, and internal storage.

Jana, That's fake. Companies typically refrain from releasing kernel sources. We already have the x6 pro (duchamp-d8300 ultra) source code on GitHub from Xiaomi: https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource/tree/bsp-duchamp-u-oss However, we need to see how they handle ROMs, etc. because there's usually a problem. Typically, MTK has some functional issues, and it's easy for the system to crash. For now and for about 1-2 years, it's not the best option for customization. However, after (or perhaps even before) a year, you might be able to find a usable custom ROM like Lineage OS. The same was said for d8100, and x4 gt (d8100, I forgot the codename) ended up having a custom ROM after all. So, choose based on your preference. Generally, if you're planning to use emulators/custom ROMs, just go for f5; if not, wait for developers to create a custom ROM for x6 pro, and stay tuned for emulation news regarding MTK – we might hear something promising this year or the next, although nothing is certain.
