I have three phones: POCO F7, OnePlus 12, and POCO X7 Pro. I mainly use all three for gaming. Back when the X7 Pro and F7 first came out, Snapdragon clearly won at pretty much everything. Even now, after the Android 16 update, things have changed quite a bit. The X7 Pro feels smoother than both Snapdragon devices. It handles 60 FPS better than the 8 Gen 3 and 8s Gen 4. I’m not sure if it’s a HyperOS bug, but both the F7 and X7 Pro heat up pretty quickly when using Game Turbo + Balanced mode. The OnePlus 12 does the same thing. But if I remove Game Turbo and play in Ultimate mode, I can usually play for quite a while without much heat. MTK emulator support is also much better than before. In older DX9–11 games, the D8400 can give around 5–20 more FPS than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 8s Gen 4. It’s mainly with newer DX11 and DX12 games where Snapdragon wins.

Poco X7 pro best value for money of 2025! Dimensity 8400 keeps price low while giving insane performance which is even compared against 2024 flagships?!

Akira, I think they were talking about the 8 Gen 3, not the recently released 8s Gen 4

Dimensity 8400 is the right choice if lower temperature is the main priority and snapdragon 8 gen 3 is the right choice in terms of raw performance and speed.

For a midrange chip the the 8400 is not that far behind the 8 gen 3 and that's impressive !

Mediatek is really giving value for money and pushing Qualcomm to do the same with their 7 series and 8s series chips. Performance is finally trickling down to the midrange segment.
