There is an error in the specifications table for CPUs, the Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4) is based on ARMv8.2-A, not ARMv9.2-A. The 8 Gen 5 is the same as the 8 Elite, but without overclocking and with a weaker GPU, the new armv9.2-A instruction is more powerful for the processor That's why he wins in "efficient" performance directly in the Elite 8 (gen4), Look at the score of almost 1M for the 8 gen5 cpu!!

It was ridiculous to release Gen5 when Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen4 was already available. It's unclear what the difference is. In fact, some features of Gen4 are better than Gen5. With its newly matured GPU drivers, Gen4 is a much better option. Gen5 isn't next-generation; it just has some inexplicable and useless changes. In short, I will never change my RM Astra tablet until Gen7.

UX influence depending on the Android device. The CPU 8 Elite (Gen 4) is based on ARMv8.2-A. The specifications table is incorrect. The new instruction ARMv9.2-A boosts CPU performance.

For me, the difference between them is like: 8 Elite:RTX 4090 8 gen 5:RTX 5080 8 Elite gen 5:RTX 5090 However, most gamers probably won't notice a significant difference, as they are both top-tier.

Tuffboi, So it's hard to say on 100% but it seems gen 5 and elite 4 pretty similar. Maybe elite gen 4 has different memory band or something but it seems gen 5 is a perfect match. Efficient and almost the same power as gen 4

Both are almost same chip, but yea 8 elite is better bin, better chip overall. 8 gen 5 price/performance is definitely very good tho, i see OP13R going for 45k (505$ tax included) in india, while 8 elite phones are way more expensive. However that phone lacks ltpo screen and a telephoto.

This time, the series S is apparently (S) gen 5, and it turned out much better than S gen 3 and S gen 4, but labeling it and selling it at a price like a flagship is marketing at its worst, very greedy, and too much deception.

This is not an s series processor in any way They won't release a snapdragon 8s gen 5 anytime soon The 8s gen 4 got released last year and that's why But most importantly orion architecture is expensive right now for Qualcomm to work upon They have to make up for fixed research cost, profit and cost for future research and development via each chip So the 8s gen 5 doesn't make sense as it would be expensive to make anyways That's why they directly made the 8 gen 5

Every year launched new powerful processors, but in real life that power is mostly useless and waste. Most high graphics mobile games and daily tasks can run perfectly fine on well optimized mid range processor phone. Real problem is that developers , brand have stopped optimizing. Hardware is getting stronger and stronger powerful on smartphone, but how many people actually edit videos daily or play games 24/7 on ultra graphics on a phone? And also how many of you take videos or something else need extra more power daily Meanwhile also phone prices keep rising mainly because of these expensive useless powerful chips. Some people will defend here without thinking. For them keep upgrading every year, then after 8 to 9 months face performance drops and than urge to buy another Powerful phone cycle continues..
