Firstly, because the power of the entire CPU core cluster is equivalent, If you're talking about the superior single-core performance of the A17 Pro, remember that software schedules tasks differently. For the same task, the A17 Pro uses 2 CPU cores, the 8 Gen 3 is allocated 3 cores then the task will be executed at a similar speed. Single-core performance only evaluates the power of a single core, not that a stronger core means the entire CPU component is more powerful. Most applications or games don't utilize only a single core. Multi-core processors are far more important than single-core. Furthermore, I want to emphasize that Geekbench 6 with its "shared task" scoring model is unreliable, which is related to Primate Labs' software programming approach. Single-core performance might be reliable but I sincerely recommend that if you want to compare the power of multiple cores, you should use Geekbench 5, Somehow, the Geekbench 6 benchmarking model has inflated Apple's CPU power, making me quite skeptical about its cross-platform compatibility and reliability. Secondly, regarding the GPU, it's clear that the 8 Gen 3 is strongly consolidating its position in both traditional graphics and Ray Tracing, with the A17 Pro offering better stability when handling heavy Ray Tracing tasks, But to summarize, the GPU on the 8 Gen 3 is significantly more powerful. Next, regarding thermal management and power consumption, the 3nm process may have given the A17 Pro a CPU performance advantage, but the problem here is that this process node suffers from thermal issues so, needless to say, it's obvious who's better. In terms of power consumption, the A17 Pro will perform better in light to medium tasks, but the 8 Gen 3 will outperform it in heavy tasks.

I have Both chipsets A17 on iPhone17 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on Lenovo Legion Y700 2025 Play Diablo IMMORTAL setting very high and open everything A17 Device Load LOW But on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Device Load Medium to High And the temperature on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will get very hot It drains the battery faster.

Bruh what are you even talking about πŸ₯€. iPhone 17 uses the A19 chip and why would you compare a normal phone with a gaming tablet that is specifically made for gaming, it doesn’t make any sense. The A17 pro has a higher overall rating than the 8gen 3 and plus with ios optimizations a weaker chipset usually outperforms a stronger one in real world usage despite raw tests. I have the ipad mini 7 with the A17 pro and it handles games perfectly at high-ultra settings, the only downside is the 60hz but it’s still super smooth. The leveno legion Y700 gen 3 gets around 40s fps in wuthering waves at max settings while i get around 50-60fps , unless it throttles it could go down to 40s or lower but it’s rare. The A17 pro > 8gen 3 honestly

Emmex001, Do you know how many mobile devices are equipped with 8 Gen 3, kid? I'm not sure if you're comparing the chip itself or the experience it delivers "ON ONLY ONE DEVICE YOU'VE EVER USED", I'm not sure if you actually have a Y700 or if you just watched some other pointless test. If you consider the overall CPU and GPU, P/P or perhaps it could be called "OVERALL RATING", then the 8 Gen 3 is better and more powerful than the A17 Pro. Android and iOS are two different ecosystems, so naturally their approaches to hardware in order to provide a user experience are also different.

Both chipsets are very good and really excellent for daily tasks. I mean, whether playing games or editing, but the fact is A17 Pro is slightly better than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Let me explain why I say that: 8 Gen 3 is made for every Android device and Samsung optimization, with 8 Gen being just okay. On the other hand, A17 Pro is specifically designed for iOS and is fully optimized with UI. So, the conclusion is that if you want a better chipset in terms of score, then it is 8 Gen 3. But for more optimized performance and long-term use, I would suggest the A17 Pro.

The Snapdragon is great in my s24 ultra. IPhone 15 Pro Max is also great, but it gets hot. Not recommended for long sessions. The rest depends on preference, and flexibility.

Both chips are fine, it just comes down to how you use them.. Saying that one chip is better than the other is like choosing your mom over your dad, and vice versa. Just learn to appreciate both sides of the story, trust me it will pay off.

It feels good as I was getting fed up with apple fanboys. There are too many crazy people here purchasing iphone for $1,000 just for playing candy crush and browsing facebook. That being said, this SD can get hot if it ain't optimized well by the manufacturer of the phone; so you might wanna be a bit more cautious when picking up a phone with this one. I still don't know which manufacturer would be a better option. For example, samsung isn't a great choice as the price would be almost same with an iphone + bloatware. I would wait for a while until custom rom will be more available. So and so there's pros & cons like usual; but it's a good thing that Qualcomm (& Mediatec as well) seems to be finally catching up with Apple.

Why do you care why people buy the phone they want to buy it's not your money the fact your buying a smartphone that does nothing but spy on people and have a pen up its a$$ is just as useless Apple users use the smartphone features especially for video editing and recording Dolby vison, LOG, and Pro-RES isn't an easy thing to process also the smooth animations Apple doesn't make chips to compete anymore they make them to make sure that iPhone's run smoothly for years to come to and that's what Apple has been good at so please you would not get it because what you do on your phone isn't the same as what an Apple user will do. the fact remains with a 6-core chip is still faster or keeping p with an 8-core chip imagine if Apple made their smartphone chips 8-core Qualcomm would take twice as long to keep up like they did now and you know it.

Harrison, Yes they have gotten better but not on par while Android only started promising software updates now Apple didn't have to promise what they could already deliver you find the iPhone XR still running smoothly on iOS 18 so yes while Android is starting to support similar software update performance Apple has always been on top people only say Apple does it for 5-6 years because most of them don't actually keep a device for that long because of their yearly habit to update.

I dont have technical knowledge like any of others but i know one thing i want to convey is that both processors are exceedingly great. The difference is that even though the stats say that SD gen 3 processor is better than Apples A17 pro, in real life scenarios its not like that is what i believe. One thing you guys should know is that A17 pro should not be underestimated. In as much as SD 8 gen 3 has more GPU performance A17 has more CPU performance due to the way Apple optimize their software. But I still prefer SD 8 gen 3 for hardcore gamers cuz it has overall slightly faster performance than a17 pro. And Apple has been making processors that has been better than most snapdragon processor, that I'll have to admit. Peace πŸ™πŸ˜

Yes that we know but that won't make much of a difference I mean they are both fast when it comes to gaming what lets the A17 Pro down even though it's faster is Apple doesn't optimize for gaming if the rest of the phone is not running all that well. If Apple cared about gaming that much like they do with CPU performance trust Apple would still be dominating they just show gaming performance to attract more customers, Apple is a less smaller chip to not in terms of nm design but overall cores it has 6 compared to 8 on Snapdragon chips, imagine the performance if Apple made the A19 and A19 Pro chips next year 8-core chips Qualcomm will take another decade to keep up with Apple.

-m-, Agreed Apple focuses more on the sustaining iOS's smooth animations video and display optimizations with battery optimization, maintaining longevity and not overclocking the chipset so in the long run it can no longer keep up due to architectural wearing. Qualcomm needs to consider these factors if they want to beat Apple because lets be realistic ever since they focused on the core optimizations in their laptop chips they can now keep up with M3 chips although behind the M3 Max still keeping up with M3 Pro and M3.

LMAO. What delusion? Did you see the graphics performance difference? Snapdragon wipes the floor with A17 in terms of graphics, not to mention the lack of a cooling system in an iPhone, which throttles the performance after 5 minutes. How many console games does the iPhone have? Like 2? The only reason it has them is because they were released on ARM-based Macs. Since Macs now have a glorified mobile chip, they are inter-compatible. That iPhone is going to choke before it can run any game better than Snapdragon.

Apple fixed their overheating issues by now and even though the snapdragon 8 gen 3 demolishes it in AnTuTu score, the iPhone still plays games better. In a comparison against Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max's main competitor, the S24 Ultra averaged 56 FPS with low stability on Genshin Impact at highest graphics settings and FPS. the iPhone managed an average of 59fps with 99% stability. This is proof that even with raw performance, optimisation and how you use that performance matters more. Therefore you and the bots that upvoted your comment are wrong.

Honestly, I don't why there is so much hate on this comparison, but I know it will never end. Both phones are great phones, and you can never go wrong with any of them, so it is strictly preference but for me, I had a better experience using the Iphone specifically with apps. Some claims I see here, like the Iphone throttles got me thinking okay, but when does this happen cause I'm an avid gamer and I have never experienced it on the iPhone as well as the Samsung, and the battery life issues are just absurd. I used to persecute apple for their outrageous prices on their products in the past and I still do but not for their phones and laptops anymore since premium phones such as the S24 fall on the same price tag. And you guys are right, most people go for iPhones cause of social class and all, but do you think they are getting less for what they paid. First off, let me start by saying the better on the galaxy phones. ANDROID, it is a much better operating system to IOS in terms of features, IOS is just too boring honestly. The second will be the CAMERA, for me 90% of the time I prefer the shots taken on Samsung phones compared to the Iphones. The Iphones do seem to capture more details and information that can be used to edit these images later on but I still give it to Samsung, this is strictly preference annd only applies to the default camera apps they provide. But in terms of performance and battery life the iphone takes these categories. Ever since the Iphone 13, the battery life on these phones have been better than their competitors and you can get these phones and test them yourselves, they are also youtube videos and data online to support my claim and this is due to the power efficiency of their chips and IOS optimizations. Speaking of optimizations, it is also the case for performance, I know the values shown here shows the galaxy phone dominates but it's not always the case in real world performance. (I will be replying to this)

Deathwisher, yes snapdragon 8 gen 3 does support it I play it on a samsung s 24 ultra and it does very well I play on ultra realistic graphics and I benchmarked it it hit around 60-90 fps for comparison that is like playing on a ps4 which averages in about 60 fps so actually better but it will drain your battery a little bit more and will be a little bit hotter the temp of playing it at max fps is around 39 to 40 degrees Celsius or In Fahrenheit around 100-104 degrees so if your fine with playing on a little bit hotter device but you can push it to the max and hit around 120 fps I haven't benchmarked how hot it gets yet or its battery drain but most likely will hit around 113 Fahrenheit

Well, I don't think it's any better because it's laggy and slow to respond. I don't know what you're talking about because, to me, the Apple chip is no good for gaming. It's not as fast as it's made out to be, so now I prefer the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 because it doesn't throttle too much. The Apple CPU has a lot of throttling issues, which I don't appreciate. I don't think so because the if you check the benchmark test for the 3rd gen and apple bionic 15 or what ever version it is on right now the snapdragon scores higher in almost every single test I do agree that apple bionic is great for playing games it just is the slightest bit weaker than the snapdragon

In the same tech, Call of Duty: Warzone test, the iPhone used 70 percent of the GPU while the S24 Ultra used 99 percent (I don't remember the exact percentage but it was something like this). It was running 2.25x more resolution. Also, the iPhone had a better average FPS. So, to conclude: 1. Using less GPU (meaning there is more headroom) 2. More FPS 3. While rendering at 2.25x I think the discussion is closed.

Patrick, Apple phones being good is a fact, and this is also true for Samsung, Xiaomi, and Huawei phones. I think you get the point. What this guy expressed wasn't that Apple phones are bad, just that Samsung ones are better, which is also a fact. Aside from hardware, Apple's software does the equivalent of selling you a house with no windows to avoid UV damage, no knives and scissors to prevent cutting yourself, and only allows people they approve to step foot on the property after they agree to give them a 30% cut. So here's an actual opinion if you want to debate something. What I've said so far were straightforward, undeniable statements. I would recommend an Apple phone to a grandma who wants to communicate with her children and is not technologically savvy. For everyone else, I would recommend an Android. Depending on their use case, there is more than one model at each budget level to choose from.

For example, take the iPhone 15 Plus, equipped with an Apple A16 Bionic, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, equipped with an Apple A17 Pro. Patrick, I disagree with almost every test that has tested the two even the older models every test for apple vs Samsung Samsung has come out on top and this has come from someone using apple apple is just laggier and throttles more than snapdragon or even the exynos even though exynos is not for performance scores higher in efficiency tests I just don't like apple so for the 2024 year I have switched to samsung and I love the proformance

Patrick, No one says their phones are bad, it's just that they are overpriced, their upgrades even more so. They are hugely incompatible with anything not from Apple (like 3rd party smartwatches, Spotify, 3rd party earbuds and headphones, Windows devices, Android smartphones, Fortnite, GeForce Now, Gamepass, LDAC, LHDC, aptX codecs, etc.), their software is so restrictive and unsatisfactory (how do they still not allow sideloading, lmao), their chipset is now worse, they now have worse battery life compared to high-end Android phones, the base iPhone and the plus still are 60hz and USB 2.0, their cameras are worse too with less detail and zoom (super helpful in college, if you know what I mean), they are super expensive to repair, their modem is quite a bit worse than Snapdragon's, they still have that enormous forehead-like notch, they still do not have a fingerprint sensor, they still have more than 8GB of RAM, and finally (that I can think of) they still have the single most ignorant, annoying fanbase. Get the disdain for Apple now? It is you who is in denial. But I'll admit, the new iPad Pro is amazing and really good value. It is probably their only appropriately priced product. But even that has outrageously priced upgrades and accessories.

The a17 Pro is just optimised for the iPhones and the ios so It could be so powerful in gaming and complicated activities because both software and hardware are so matched on the other side the qualcomm processors are used in many types of phones and they could match themselves with every phone which they used. I think the snapdragon can be used even in a iPhone but the apple processors can't. In this case I give the point to the qualcomm and it's lovely processor snapdragon. Thanks for reading.

Snapdragon processors genuinely outperform Bionic processors. However, the issue lies with phone manufacturers and Android. The Android operating system is more intensive than iOS, and brands use various user interfaces that aren't fully optimized. Moreover, they add needless features, bloatware, ads, etc., which further degrade performance. It's indeed unfortunate for Snapdragon, even as the company is putting its best foot forward; it still remains dominated by Apple because of these Android manufacturers.

Someone, I agree. Phone manufacturers need to optimize their own user interfaces, similar to how Apple optimizes their iOS with the SOC. By doing this, the performance of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could be equivalent, if not slightly superior, to the A17 Pro.

The modem is more advanced, the gpu is leaps and bounds more advanced, it has more cores and hence is better for multitasking, phones with it have way more ram again hammering that point home, it supports much higher resolution cameras, much higher resolutions and refresh rates on the display, much higher download and upload speeds, much better bluetooth codecs like ldac and lhdc and the aptx family, and more that I cant remember now

Although the 8 gen 3 beats A17 pro in some of the performance tests, I prefer the A17 pro because it's running off the iOS OS which gives superior software-hardware optimization vs 8 gen 3 running off the android OS which is why the iPhone 15 pro and 15 pro max models operate smoother and perform faster than any of the android based phones powered by 8 gen 3.

What's good about having smooth performance if it's coupled with a laggy and slow response? I frankly don't see any benefits to it, dude. I must point out, the Apple A17 Pro stands no chance against the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. So, how could we possibly expect it to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, considering its laggy performance? It's not as if I'm just highlighting all of the A17 Pro's shortcomings. The hard truth is, it simply can't outperform the Android CPUs listed, no matter how you look at it.

Apple CPUs, despite potentially having a higher clock speed, are always slower than Qualcomm CPUs. This is because their clock speed is locked. I wouldn't expect the Apple A17 Pro to outperform the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, seeing as it couldn't even surpass the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Apple CPU is significantly slower.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+/For Galaxy should have a CPU clock speed of 3.65 or 3.7 GHz Maybe that will overthrow Apple. Snapdragon should increase the cache.

Even after four generations from the Snapdragon 870 - the first chip to support 8K at 30 fps without HDR recording - and two generations from Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 - the first chip to support 8K at 30 fps with HDR recording - the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 still does not support 8K recording at 60 fps.

Leaks suggest that the iPhone 16 series will incorporate some type of cooling system. Once this happens, the competition could become steeper. Remarkably, Apple has managed to achieve Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance in the A17 Pro, without any sort of cooling system.
