870 has better single core & multi core on geekbench, I'd take that any day than just better gpu driver tbh

i dont like Snapdragon SoC that much...they heat up more easier than Dimensity SoC, plus Mediatek has taken the lead with 9300 and 9400 SoC for this Gen and previous Gen of SoC, however Snapdargon has better support for most app and emulators...but that gap slowly closing as well.

Nope, 870, 865 are still powerful. I would definitely choose them over new mid rangers

Guna, Picking those mean you won't get any latest OS updates. My Xiaomi Pad 6 won't get Android 16 because Snapdragon will not release kernel for new OS. It's fast but will never be updated.

Sora, Sora, I don't care about that, I use a Motorola Edge 20 Pro with custom ROM, so if you look at it from that point of view, it's trivial.

I've used both the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 and Snapdragon 870 phones, specifically the Poco F5 and Realme GT Neo 3T. I've tried out both stock ROMs and custom ROMs on these phones. In terms of performance, the 870 is far superior. However, the 7+ Gen 2 is more efficient. I prefer the 870 with a 6000 mAh battery. It performs excellently - even after 5 hours of constant gaming, it still provides consistent performance with no throttling. The system also doesn't heat up as much, making it highly stable with the best sustained performance.

Far superior in which game? Or which app? Are both devices running same resolution and settings? Are they at their max clockspeeds? Temperature?

Lolwat, Pubg Codm CPU throttling etc 870 has better sustained performance over longer sessions on stock ROMs But it depends on UI Realme UI is always better than HyperOS Both on custom ROMs provide excellent performance no throttling at all like superior OS Evolution X ROM And AOSP ROMs 870 heats up more 44Β°c 7+ gen 2 stays under 39Β°c 7+ gen 2 is more powerful and more efficient 5.30 hours SOT in pubg in Realme GT Neo 3T 870 on pubg at 60 fps Almost 7 hours of SOT in Poco F5 7+ gen 2 in pubg at 60 fps

Sammo, LoL that temperature reading are came from OEM's thermal designs, u can't tell which chip is cooler or not Generally 7+gen2 many be more powerful and cooler but 870 still providing good mid range tier performance

it depends... if your thermal paste has ran out you might think it will not heat up?

This is still a V8 chip with a Gen 3 sticker. I suggest getting the 7 Plus as it's much superior. The 870 outperforms this one since it almost doubles the memory bandwidth. That's a huge deal.

Memory bandwidth has little to zero impact on true performance. Take that with a pinch of salt.

King Miracle., Well, once everything is loaded in, sure, but the loading times for everything are way faster even on old flagships. Thats why some of the new midrange mediateks seem so fast, because they have huge bandwiths. This is assuming both devices use the same UFS type storage, obviously.
