They have just one and a half year difference, crazy. And huawei launched p60 around time gen 3 was announced. I mean, gen1+ is alright, but for full price, when gen 3 is almost there?

Looks like the 8+G1 has already been rendered obsolete. It gets overshadowed by modern mid-range chipsets. The absence of WiFi7 and AV1 equals a product to avoid. It's absolutely not future proof. Also, avoid phones without MMWAVE. If you're considering a new phone, I suggest increasing the budget and waiting for the 9400 with the new ARM designs and 8G4 with Oryon. We might get a massive IPC jump, making everything before it e-waste. Androids currently have anemic SC performance. That might soon change.

Calling performance anemic and saying phones with the 8+G1 are e-waste is absolutely insane. I have a backup phone with a Snapdragon 835 (OnePlus 5t) that handles everyday apps with no issues

Yikes, the Gen 1 design for the IPhone 8 is already outdated. It's time for an upgrade!
